KATHMANDU, June 17: A group of youths on Sunday filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court seeking annulment of the government´s decision to hold fresh Constituent Assembly polls.

The petition claims that the decision to hold new election without amending Article 63 of the interim constitution would deprive thousands of youths who had turned 18 after December 16, 2006 of their voting rights. [break]

Sushil Bhatta, Chhabilal Mal, Suresh Lama, Pramila Thapaliya, Brudul Kumar and Binita Bishwakarma have filed the petition. The SC has been moved against the government´s decision to hold fresh CA polls for the second time in a fortnight.

Earlier, a petition was filed at the apex court claiming that the government decision is unconstitutional. The interim constitution only envisages the CA election held in April, 2006.
