Worried of disappearing art and culture due to influence of western culture, the youths have given attention on preservation of local culture.

The Balbikas Samaj Sudhar, Devinagar (Society) has started preservation of culture in Jalpa, Devinagar, Jhadewa, Rahabas and other VDCs in Palpa district.

"We have been engaged in the campaign to save our traditional culture", said chairman of the Society, Bal Bahadur Thapa. Everyone is happy that youths have taken the responsibility in playing madal, and dancing and singing and in preservation of marriage traditions and festivals.

Thapa said youths are coming forward as older generation stopped participating in Sorathi dance, Ghatu Naach, Lakhe Nach and protecting water jar- Karuwa, and traditional musical instruments –Panchaibaja- because of their age.

Mukti Ram Biswokarma of Sakine, Jalpa -1, said the Thulo Nach and Sorathi Nach are complex and costly, and expressed happiness that the campaign will preserve them.

Older people are happy as youths have taken the responsibility, said Devaka Devi Kunwar of Ghatu Nach. The youths engaged in this campaign should be cooperated by the state for encouraging them, say older people.
