KATHMANDU, June 20: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, seeking cancellation of the government decision to transfer senior Nepali Police officers citing the issuance of the elections code of conduct following the announcement for reelections to the Constituent Assembly.

The writ filed by advocate Kamal Prasad Itani has claimed that the June 18 government decision on transfer of high-ranking officers of police would directly affect the CA elections announced for November 22 this year. [break]

Advocate Itani calls for scrapping the decision through certiorari.

The petition has named the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Home Ministry and the Nepal Police Headquarters as the defendants.
