Woman rescued from captivity

RAJBIRAJ, July 16: Police have rescued a woman, who was held in captivity by her brother-in-law, and admitted her to the Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital on Tuesday morning. She is Manju Yadav of Boriya VDC-5, Saptari district.



Neighbours informed police and her parents´ side after they saw that Surya Narayan Yadav of Boriya VDC-5 thrashing her, tying her on a pillar at his house. Manju is his younger brother´s wife. Manju has bruises as well as wound on her body.[break]



Police had arrested the accused Surya Narayan and another suspect Anita but released them due to ´pressure´ without taking action. Surya Narayan is assistant official at Boriya-based Narendra Higher Secondary School.



Jahindra Prasad of Prasabani VDC-4, father of the victim, said that Surya Narayan has been misbehaving with Manju as there is property dispute between them for long.



Manju said that her brother-in-law thrashed her frequently.
