CHITWAN, Dec 22: Finance Minister and CPN-UML leader Surendra Pandey has said that the Unified CPN (Maoist) should withdraw its demand to call special session of the Parliament as the proposal will heighten political deadlock instead of forging consensus.

UML will request the Maoist party and the Nepali Congress to withdraw the proposal to call special session and pull out prime ministerial candidacy, respectively, he said speaking at a press meet organised in Chitwan Wednesday.

"UML will urge both the parties as per its Politburo meeting. If that doesn´t happen we will vote against them," he said.

Saying that consensus is vital for a political way out, he said that the new government will be formed through majority system if consensus efforts fail.

In another context, he said that local people should pressurise for the implementation of this fiscal year´s budget.
