Gambar Singh Kusari, 52, threw out his wife Janaki, 55, and their youngest daughter out of home after repeatedly thrashing the wife for not bearing a son. The Kusaris have four daughters, three of whom are already married off.[break]
Janaki has been living in her parental home along with her youngest daughter for the past two weeks, according to her nephew Bhim Bahadur.
“He tried everything, from faith-healers to shamans, to get a son, but when nothing worked, he started to beat our aunt and ultimately threw her out of house,” said Bhim Bahadur.
He claimed that Gambar Singh was trying to dispose of his aunt to marry another woman for a son. Neighbors said they were sick and tired of Gambar Singh thrashing his wife regularly. “He threatens us to get out of his internal affair when we try to intervene,” a neighbor said.
