"I had won the gold in Colombo and I´ll give my best to achieve the same result this time also", said Kamal. "I am doing better in the ongoing training and I have the confidence."
Chief coach Tilak Raut is also confident of improving the result in Dhaka SAG. "We have been training for the last six months and we have spent last the 72 days in closed-camp training. And, I´m getting improved results under training which give me more confidence," said Raut.
According to Raut, gold medalist Kamal has been lifting 280 kg in training. ´Being a coach I can´t be overconfident but all these performances lead me to think positive and hope for the best´, said Raut.
Raut is expecting gold from Kamal and Gopal Bahadur Shrestha in Dhaka as well, and he believes the other four lifters - Gyan Bahadur Shrestha, Bikas Thapa, Punti Lal Yadav and Hem Shankar Chaudhary - will also win medals.
"We players are satisfied with the training and doing hard labor to give better results to the nation," said Bikas.
However, the freezing environment of Kathmandu has affected the training of the lifters. "Lifting heavy weight in low temperature causes muscle cramps and pains in joints," said coach Raut.
Former Chief-coach of the game and Training-director of the National Sports Council Parthasarathi Sen Gupta also looked confident about achieving success in Dhaka. "Weightlifting had never disappointed us and I´m confident that we´ll perform even better in Dhaka," said Gupta.
