KATHMANDU, May 18: The Democratic Madhesi Organization affiliated to the CPN-UML has said the recent political agreement on 11 provinces was unacceptable to it.

Organizing a press conference at New Baneshwor on Friday, the Organization has demanded only two provinces in Madhes.

Organization Chairman Raghubir Mahashet said it was essential to adopt either 10 provinces recommended by state restructuring commission or 14 provinces recommended by the state restructuring committee of the Constituent Assembly.

"If our proposal is not accepted, seven province decision of the UML needs to be finalized," he said. The decision imposed from others is not acceptable, leader Mahaseth added.

The Organization has further demanded that directly elected president must be given executive power.

The mixed electoral system does not bring stability in country, he said, adding that the recent political agreement on 11 provinces was incomplete.

Similarly, the Organization has demanded to have the numbers in upper and lower houses of parliament reduced.
