Sherchan also asked party members to file complaint with the committee against any office bearers or central members of the party if they have credible information about hidden assets. He said that personal details of the person filing complaints would be kept confidential.
Those interested to file complaint have been asked to submit their complaints to committee chairman Sherchan and two other members Lokendra Bista and Nawaraj Subedi at the party headquarters in Parisdanda within a week starting Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, committee member Magar said they are carrying out the work as per the mandate given by more than 5,000 party cadres gathered at the Maoists´ seventh plenum held recently in Kathmandu. “We have taken this as both challenge and opportunity,” he added.
The Maoist party had decided to form a probe committee amidst complaints by party cadres gathered for plenum that the party´s central leaders had amassed huge amounts of property in contravention of the party´s ideology. The cadres had mainly raised the issue involving deflection of PLA funds, which mainly comprised levies collected over several years from Maoist comatants.
