Nepal´s coach Pubudu Dasanayake said that Asian Cup is a good platform for Nepal prior to the U-19 World Cup. [break]
"This is a tough tournament for us as we have to play against India and Pakistan in the group stage," said the coach, adding, "After the tournament we will know the caliber of the players for the world cup."
Skipper of the squad, Prithu Baskota, said his team is not going to take any match likely. "We have to perform well in the tournament and bring good result. We won´t take any matches lightly," said Baskota, adding, "We were trained how to play 50 overs matches. The coach has divided 50 overs in blocks and we have to implement it during the game."
Baskota further added that the current team is experienced and balanced. "The current team consists players who had earlier participated in the ACC U-19 world cup qualifiers," said the skipper, adding, "We have all-round players in the squad."
Coach Dasanayake and skipper Baskota praised the new players in the squad. "The new players are highly talented and have a bright future," said coach Dasanayake. "The team shares a good bonding with the new players," said the skipper.
Coach Dasanayake said Nepal´s bowling attack is strong and needs good opening stand from the openers. "Subash Khakurel and Pradeep Ariee are good openers for Nepal and they can give good start for the team."
During the farewell function, Senior Vice President of Cricket Association of Nepal TB Shah asked the players not to be under pressure while facing the Test playing nations.
"Nepal had already defeated those teams in the past so we have to keep them under pressure," said Shah, adding, "From this tournament our preparation for the world cup has started."
