He also fired at Bista´s wife Leeladevi, who was seriously injured. The deceased Bista had married Leeladevi on November 22 in Kailali´s Sadepani-5, the village Shahi hails from.
The body of the deceased and his injured wife were airlifted to Kathmandu in an army chopper on Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, Shahi is staying put at Polkhari village of Jogbudha-9. Villagers have not been able to intervene as he is armed.
"We are helpless as he has threatened to open fire," said the deceased´s younger brother Bharat, adding, he had never seen Shahi in the village before. "I don´t know what enmity he had with my brother. He even tried to kill my mother and sister, who fled to safety," he said.
According to Bharat, Shahi suddenly opened indiscriminate fire, and then left for the Polkhari village where he is camping. Shahi is wearing a combat dress. Until Friday evening, he was still camping at Polkhari village. Police and army teams that have been on the look out for him had not reached the village by late Friday.
