According to TIA General Manager Dinesh Prasad Shrestha, the radar will not need any maintenance for another six years and it will need periodic maintenance after that.
The radar has resumed operation from April 24. The maintenance work started on April 8, causing cancellation of around 10 percent flights.
The radar was set up by Japanese Toshiba Company under Japanese assistance 11 years ago.
The overhaul and maintenance cost of Rs 42.5 million is going to be borne by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
