Three journos injured in clash with cops

LAHAN, June 5: Police on Sunday used force against journalists staging a sit-in in front of the District Administration Office (DAO), Dhanusha.



Journalists Brija Kumar Yadav, Santosh Singh and Upendra Bhagat Nagbanshi were injured in the incident. [break]



The journalists have been demanding action against police personnel involved in torturing Republica´s Janakpur correspondent Suresh Yadav.



Nagbanshi, who has received injuries to his head, is being treated at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital, while Yadav and Singh have started fast-unto-death since noon demanding action against the police officials involved in the incident.



Siraha CDO Kamaleshwar Prasad Sinha, however, claimed that police were just trying to move the protestors from the DAO premises.



Sub Inspector Shashi Kanta Thakur on May 26 had arrested Republica journo Yadav and detained him for night following altercations at one Suresh Sharma´s home where sub inspector Thakur had reached in search of his lost bicycle.
