Thapa's team wins Western Open Pro-Am

POKHARA, Nov 26: Pro golfer Rajan Thapa teamed up with amateurs Buddhi Adhikari, Raju Thakali and Jhuna Rai won the Pro-Am title of the Surya Nepal Western Open here on Saturday.



Thapa´s team accumulated 90 points to lift the trophy at the par-73 Himalayan Golf Course in Pokhara. Thapa scored 25 points while Adhikari earned 22, Thakali made 26 and Rai scored 17 points for the winning team.[break]



Meanwhile, pro Sanjay Lama (25 points) as well as amateurs Ram Baniya (25 points), Yuvaraj Garbuja (21 points) and Tupendra Limbu (17) secured the second position with 88 points.



The team of pro Rabi Khadka (23) and amateurs Lachhim Prasad Gurung (23), Samir Acharya (21) and Dr Niranjan Sharma (16) finished third with 83 points.



Ram Sharan Thapa was the best amateur in the men´s individual section, while Ambika Rana and Kesang Lama were the joint best in the women´s section.

Norbu Shepa won the longest drive award while Rabin Rana received the award for the closest to the pin.



Altogether 80 golfers, including 20 pros, participated in the Pro-Am event. The top 10 pro and 30 amateur scores were drawn to declare the team winners.



Acting CDO of Kaski District Iswar Raj Regmi, Nepal PGA President Rabindra Man Shrestha, Director of Himlayan Golf Course Kiran KC and Kaski District Golf Association President LP Gurung gave away the awards to the winners.



Nepal No 1 Shiva Ram Shrestha won the title of the Western Open, the sixth event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2011-12 on Friday.
