Addressing a training programme held at the Party´s central office at Buddhanagar in the capital on Sunday, Vice-chairman of the party CP Gajurel announced that the party had decided to propose General Secretary Thapa as its candidate for the post of Prime Minister.
He also said that the CPN-Maoist would not accept the proposing of prime ministerial candidate from the Nepali Congress or the UCPN (Maoist) party for the consensus government.
Gajurel also claimed that the political impasse could be resolved only if his party was given the leadership of the next government, as only the CPN-Maoist carried a new agenda.
He went further ahead to also claim that other political parties would fail to name the candidate for the post of prime minister of the consensus government within the seven days deadline given by the President.
It would be right for Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai to give way to the new government, with the President already making a call for the same, he said.
