Telephone disrupted

BUTWAL, March 31: At least 1,000 telephone lines have been disrupted when loss incurred to the cable placed by the Nepal Telecom in the road in course of the construction of six-lane road in Butwal.



Obstruction caused to more than 1,000 telephone lines after a dozer broke down the underground cable while expanding road stretch in Butwal, according to Telecom Butwal Branch Chief Bishnu Poudel. [break]



It may take a week to resume the smooth operation of disturbed telephone lines, he said, adding technical report assessing the loss incurred has yet to come.



The Road Division Office has also put forward the works of constructing drainage along with six-lane road in Butwal. The great loss caused when dozer was used to dig out land in Milanchowk, he told.



Had it been dug out manually, it would not have triggered this much of loss, Chief Poudel shared.



The Telecom is bearing revenue loss worth more than Rs. 30,000 every day after the disruption of telephone lines.
