Speaking at a press meet in Reporters Club, Kathmandu, on Tuesday, the teachers warned that they would shut down schools if the government turn deaf ear to the agreement. [break]
“The government should implement the agreement at any cost,” Guna Raj Lohani, chairman of the association, said in the press meet. “The government should scrap Education Act 2028 and bring a new act to effect immediately.”
The association also plans to meet Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai tomorrow morning and inform the latter about their demands.
The association has demanded that the government scrap company act, end privatization of the schools and scrap Education Act 2028, among others.
