Tea shop operator arrested for selling cannabis in Morang

KATHMANDU, June 16 : Police in Morang have arrested a man for allegedly selling cannabis from a tea shop in Dhanpalthan Rural Municipality.



The arrested individual has been identified as Gopal Sahani, 40, of Dhanpalthan–4, according to Morang Police spokesperson DSP Makendra Kumar Mishra.

Police said Sahani was found selling cannabis in small packaged portions from his tea shop based on a specific tip-off.


During a raid, officers recovered around 800 grams of cannabis, which had been packed into small bundles and hidden inside the shop premises.


DSP Mishra said cannabis was also found inside the shop’s cash box along with Nepalese currency during the search.


He added that Sahani has been taken into custody and kept at the Area Police Office, Rangeli, for further investigation.
