KATHMANDU, Dec 2: The final rites of late Nepali Congress (NC) leader Bhim Bahadur Tamang were performed with national honors given to former ministers in Swayambhu on Sunday.
His son Deepak Tamang offered funeral pyre as per the Tamang tradition. NC President Sushil Koirala paid tribute covering the veteran leader´s body with party´s flag. [break]
A funeral procession which began from NC party office, Sanepa converged into Swayambhu.
Senior NC leader and Central Working Committee member Tamang passed away on Saturday morning due to heart attack at the age of 78 at Norvic International Hospital in Thapathali.
Tamang, who had been suffering from diabetes, blood pressure and asthma for long, was rushed to hospital for treatment after he had complained of some health complication shortly after he arrived home after morning walk.
However, doctors pronounced him dead shortly after he was brought to the hospital.
His dead body was later taken to NC´s headquarters in Sanepa, where leaders and activists from various parties, including Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, paid their last tributes to him.
