Swimming team off to Bangkok

KATHMANDU, Sept 29: A 12-member Nepali swimming team, including eight players, is all set to participate in the Eighth Asian Age-group Swimming Championship slated for October 1-4 in Thailand.

Gaurabh Maharjan (50 m freestyle), Nikon Purja (50 m freestyle and breaststroke), Pawel Shah (50 m butterfly and breaststroke) and Roshan Pun (50 m freestyle and butterfly) will take part in the men's event, while Swikriti Ghising (50 m freestyle and backstroke), Tisha Shakya (50 m breaststroke and backstroke), Mansha Shrestha (50 m freestyle) and Sofia Shah (50 m and 100 m freestyle) will compete in the women's event.

Sofia is in Phuket, Thailand for training while the remaining 11-member team left for Bangkok on Tuesday. Ranjan Bhattarai is the leader of the team, Ratna Maharjan and Yogendra Shrestha are the coaches, while Jenifer Lama is the manager of the team.
