Students hold torch rally

KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Protesting against the recent hike in petroleum products, agitating 13 student unions affiliated to various political parties organized a torch rally in the capital on Tuesday evening.



Student unions have been protesting nationwide demanding that the government roll back its decision on price hike. [break]



A meeting between the government and students unions on Monday evening could not make headway as the both the team remained adamant on their stances.



The government made it clear that it would not scrap price hike decision.



Minister for Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta on Tuesday afternoon ruled out any possibilities to review recently hiked price of petroleum products but made it clear that the government was planning to come up with subsidies to the students on petroleum products.
