Standard edges Bright Future on penalties

KATHMANDU: Standard Co-Ed Higher Secondary defeated Bright Future Higher Secondary 4-2 in tie-breaker in the Coca-Cola Inter-school Boys´ and Girls´ National Football Tournament at the Sano Gaucharan Ground, Kathmandu on Tuesday. [break]



The match was decided on penalties after the regulation time ended goalless. Bhaktapur Secondary School thrashed Namuna Machhindra School 5-0 as Sudeep Shrestha scored a brace and Biraj Khadka, Manjit Tamang and Susam Gajurel added a goal each for the winner. In the third match of the day, World Youth International beat Amar Secondary 3-1.



Susan Shrestha scored a hat-trick for the winning side while Ajit Shrestha scored a consolation goal for Amar. Similarly, Siddhartha Vanasthali defeated Mansingh Dharma Higher Secondary 2-0 with goals from Ashish Lama and Rajiv Lopchan. In the last match of the day, Global Public School registered a 2-1 victory over Loyalty Academy. Yogesh Udas and Swarup Thapa scored a goal each for Global while Mingma Tenzing Sherpa scored the only goal for Loyalty.
