On the first day, Kuwait plays Thailand at IOE Ground while Singapore meets Malaysia at BSAM Ground.
The event, to be participated by 10 non-Test playing nations of Asia, runs for 11 days with the final scheduled for March 18.
Nepal, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Bahrain complete the Group A while Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Thailand and Saudi Arabia comprise Group B.
Top two teams after the league round will qualify for the semifinals.
National Team beat U-21
National cricket squad defeated the U-21 team in a Twenty-20 practice match by 11 runs at the TU Cricket Ground on Thursday.
The U-21 team is training for the 11th South Asian Games while the national team is preparing for the ICC World Cricket League Division 5.
Winning the toss national squad were elected to bat and put up 120 runs losing 5 wickets in limited 20 overs. Mehboob Alam topscored 55 runs off 56 balls while Sharad Vesawkar added 23 runs. U-21 skipper Gyanendra Malla took 2 wickets.
In reply, U-21 could reach only 109 runs losing their seven wickets in the limited 20 overs. Gyanendra contributed 23 off 18 balls while Anil Mandal scored 20 off 27 balls.
Sanjam Regmi was the highest wicket taker as he took 3 U-21 wickets. Mehboob was adjudged man-of- the-match.
NCC into semis
Nepal Commerce Campus defeated Shankardev College 3-0 on Thursday to advance into the semifinal of the Akhil Cup Football Tournament being held at Chysal ground.
Yudi Gurung, Siddi Shrestha and Nires Dulal scored one each for the Commerce Campus in the 60th, 72nd and 81st minutes respectively.
The tournament is being organized by All Nepal Free Students Union affiliated to CPN-UML.
