PALPA, Jan 13: The Maoist student wing, All Nepal National Independent Students´ Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) -- shut down all educational institutions in nine districts in in western Nepal on Wednesday.

Due to the band, no school opened in Salyan, Rukum, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Myagdi, Baglung, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi and Palpa districts, which fall under the Maoists´ Magarat state. Many students who had reached school were forced to return home as they were unaware of the suddenly called banda.

The banda was called to protest the ´false allegation´ labeled against Maoist students following the December 8 clash between YCL and Youth Force in Salyan.

The ANNISU-R´s Magarat State Committee in-charge Purna Bahadur Simle said that police have issued arrest warrants for ANNISU-R district president Durga Bahadur Budhathoki and member Rim Bahadur Rawat on the charge of robbery.

“The government has filed false cases against our leaders. That is why the banda was called,” Simle said.

The protestors have threatened to go for stronger protests if the government did not drop the charges.

Budhathoki and Rawat are, on the other hand, have been absconding since the incident.
