Satya Bharati reaches T20 final

KATHMANDU, Nov 23: Visiting team Kolkata Satya Bharati School from India reached the final of the Wai Wai Indo-Nepal U-16 T20 Cricket Tournament after defeating New Horizon School, Bhairahawa by 21 runs in the first semifinal on Friday.



Satya Bharati elected to bat first and put up 162/10 in 20 overs at the Pulchowk Engineering Ground, Lalitpur. Taran Preet Singh and Manoj Dutta scored 35 runs each while Ravi Sharma added 27 runs. Man-of-the-match Dutta´s knock was special as he scored 35 runs off only 14 balls. Yogesh Dhakal took four wickets for New Horizon.[break]



Chasing the total, New Horizon could reach only 141 in 20 overs losing seven wickets. Shankar Rana scored 54 runs off 46 balls but could not avoid the defeat. Atul Nirala claimed two wickets for the Satya Bharati.



Satya Bharati will take the winner of the next semifinal between Army School, Bhaktapur and Galaxy Public School in the final scheduled for Saturday. The second semifinal will also be played on Saturday.



Meanwhile, another Indian team TCA, Kerala lost to DAV School, Jawalakhel by 76 runs in the last group stage match. Both the teams have already crashed out of the tournament. DAV elected to bat and put up 132/4 in 20 overs as Aashish Kumar Jha scored 57 runs off 47 balls. DAV, then, bowled out the Indian team at 56 runs in 17.2 overs.



Greenland Children Academy Higher Secondary School has organized the tournament, which features eight Nepali and two Indian school-level teams. It is the first school-level tournament with cash prize in Nepal.
