SANKHUWASABHA, July 18: Voter registration in Sankhuwasabha is significantly low in comparison to the last CA elections.

A total of 82,799 voters have registered themselves in the new electoral roll with photo and biometrics. The present number is around a third less than that of 2008 as a total of 132,118 voters were registered in the district in 2008. [break]

"Out of total registered voters, 41,945 are in constituency number 2 and 40,454 in constituency number 1," said Bhakta Bhattarai, Chief of Election Office, Sankhuwasabha. There are 18 and 15 VDCs in constituency number 1 and 2 respectively.

"Voter numbers have decreased in the district as most of the youths are out of the district or out of the country for employment while some have deliberately not registered themselves," said Bhattarai adding that more than 10,000 youths from the district are abroad.
