SAARC level seminar on tax begins

BANEPA, Nov 27: The SAARC level seminar on tax has started in Dhulikhel on Tuesday. Inaugurating the seminar, Minister for Finance Barshaman Pun said that tax net should be widened and the taxpayers should be aware that tax amount was for their development.



Director at the Inland Revenue Department Narayan Subedi said that experiences about tax of different countries will be shared in the seminar. [break]



On the occasion, he said Nepal has focused on taxpayer education programe.



Subedi said that the taxpayer education programe would support to widen the tax net. The seminar is expected to improve the weaknesses related to tax system.



Representatives of 17 different countries have participated in the four-day seminar where the participants are scheduled to discuss on different working papers on tax, it is learnt.The seminar is jointly organized by the Inland Revenue Department and SAARC.
