Rs 20m ICIMOD support

KATHMANDU, April 12: International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) has handed over hydrological and meteorological equipment worth Rs 20 million to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DoHM).



Andreas Schild, director general of ICIMOD, handed over the equipment to Dr Nirmal H Rajbhandari, director general of DoHM, amidst a function in Kathmandu Tuesday. [break]



The equipment, supported by the German government, will be used in upgrading and maintaining existing hydrological and meteorological stations and establishing new stations in Kailash Sacred Landscape (KSL), ICIMOD said in a statement.



With the new equipment, DoHM will establish new weather stations in Jumla, Simikot, Hilsa, Rara, Chainpur, Darchula, Patan (Baitadi) and Chameliya, ICIMOD said.
