KATHMANDU, May 23: Roekta Singh of Kathmandu got best trainee award during the First Karate Seminar of International Wado Federation (IWF) that concluded in Kathmandu on Thursday. IWF Norway’s head coach Kjartan Stornes conducted the seminar held from May 17 to 21. Jimm Rune Vaigheim and other four Norwagian instructors had helped Stornes during the seminar.
Altogether 137 players and coaches took part in the event in which Roekta was adjudged the best trainee. Sahdev Rajbanshi, Arun Kumar Karki, Man Bahadur Moktan, Buddhi Megi and Santosh Majhi passed the fourth Dan while 13 trainees passed the third Dan, 27 got second the Dan and 35 received the first Dan. Likewise, 55 participants passed brown belt test. Stornes distributed certiciates to all the participants.

Dinesh enters quarterfinals in Doha
Dinesh Shrestha advanced to the quarterfinals of the First Doha International Boxing Championship on Thursday by defeating Sri Lankan opponent on the basis of point in the men’s 60 kg category. He will face boxer from Morocco in the last eight encounter. Meanwhile, Bikash Lama faced defeat against a Sri Lanka opponent in the tournament being held in Doha, Qatar, according to Nepal Boxing Association President Rajib Shrestha.
Nepal off to winning start
Nepali started its campaign of the AFC U-14 Reginal Festival Football in Tajikistan with a win on Friday. Nepal recorded 1-0 win against South Asian rival Pakistan in its opening match of 60 minutes in Group B. Rejin Subba scored the winner in the 38th minute through a header on Rajib Lopchan’s pass. Nepal will play its second and last group match against Afghanistan on May 25.
