Rights activists continue sit-in against VAW

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Various rights activists have staged a sit-in at the Prime Minister´s residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday, calling for ending violence against women (VAW) and stern action against the perpetrators.



Some 400 people participated in the mass sit-in organized at the initiatives of the youth human rights activists. Different human rights organizations including the women human rights network, the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal, journalists, lawyers and members of the civil society participated in the sit-in demonstration.[break]



The sit-in was organized from 9 to 11 a.m. The participants had demanded judicial probe into the incident of violence against women that took place recently in different places of the country including in Kathmandu and taking stern action against the culprits.
