During the month, the government´s revenue collection stood at Rs 19.30 billion, over Rs 15.08 billion in the same month last year. Of the amount, Rs 18.15 billion was parked in the state coffer as tax revenue and Rs 1.15 billion as non-tax revenue, a statement from the Ministry of Finance says.[break]
Of the tax revenue, Rs 6.88 billion was raised through value added tax (VAT), up 11.15 percent than in the same period last year. Customs duties added another Rs 5.03 billion to the state coffer in the month, as against Rs 3.47 billion in the same month last year.
Excise duties, on the other hand, made a contribution of Rs 3.03 billion in the month, up from Rs 2.78 billion in the same period last year, while income tax generated Rs 2.39 billion in the month, as against Rs 1.97 billion last year.
Likewise, registration fees and vehicle tax raised Rs 755.2 million, over Rs 610 million in the same month last year.
With the collection of these taxes and duties, the government´s revenue collection stood at Rs 97.34 billion over the first five months of the current fiscal year, as against Rs 77.70 billion in the same period last fiscal year.
