Republica editor-in-chief awarded

KATHMANDU, March 29: The Reporters´ Club, Nepal has decided to award Editor-in-Chief of Republica Ameet Dhakal with this year´s Girija Prasad Koirala Memorial Journalism Award.



The selection team of the club has decided to award Dhakal for his contribution in the field of journalism for almost two decades, a press statement issued by the club reads.[break]



The award carries a total purse of Rs 100,001 and a copper plaque. Senior journalist Harihar Birahi was awarded with the prize last year.



Kiran Pokharel of Annapurna Post will be awarded Tarani Prasad Memorial Journalism Award with a purse of Rs 30,000. Similarly, Subha Shankar Kandel of ABC Television will be awarded with Krishnasen Ichchhuk Journalism Award, photojournalist Shaligram Tiwari of Kantipur daily with Babu Chhiri Memorial Photojournalism Award, and Babita Basnet of Ghatana Ra Bichar weekly with Uma Singh Memorial Journalism Award, each carrying a purse of Rs 20,000. The awards will be handed over on the club´s anniversary on Friday.
