Koirala said Regmi shouldn´t hesitate to quit as chief justice if that helps unite all the political forces. “We are for elections and so are the agitating political parties. Regmi should not obstruct consensus by refusing to resign as chief justice if that helps forge consensus for the upcoming polls,” Koirala told media persons. [break]
According to Koirala, NC hasn´t pressed Regmi to tender his resignation as chief justice so far. “But we will have to ask him to quit as chief justice if the issue continues to obstruct consensus,” Koirala explained. He said his party agreed on the formation of chief justice led government to prevent former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai from turning a dictator.
Stating that failure to hold election would invite a serious disaster in the country, Koirala vowed to conduct polls in winter at any cost. He said that it is not only the Nepali people who want election but also the international community.
