Rawal off to India

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Home Minister Bhim Rawal on Monday left for a four-day visit to India.



He is accompanied by Nepali Police Chief Ramesh Chand, Armed Police Chief Sanat Basnet, National Investigation Department Chief Ashok Dev Bhatta and Joint Secretary at Home Ministry Prem Rai.



Rawal is scheduled to hold discussions on controlling cross-border crimes and smuggling of goods, drugs and fake currency with his Indian counterpart and security officials. He is scheduled to return home on January 21.



Meanwhile, Rawal Monday paid tributes to departed Marxist veteran Jyoti Basu saying he was a great Communist leader.



Rawal and his wife Sujita, both members of the Central Committee of CPN-UML, arrived at CPI(M) headquarters in Delhi and paid tributes to Basu.
