Prez Yadav endorses budget ordinance forwarded by govt

KATHMANDU, Nov 20:  Amid protest from various opposition political parties, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has issued a budget ordinance presented by the government on Tuesday evening.



President Yadav certified the ordinance for Use Cash from Consolidated Fund and Appropriate it for Service and Works-2069 as per the Article 88 (1) of the Interim Constitution, according to a press statement issued by president’s office late this evening.[break]



Earlier on late afternoon, government had forwarded a two-thirds budget ordinance to President for endorsement.



Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun and Chief Secretary Lilamani Poudyal had reached the president´s office in Shital Niwas to submit the budget to the state head for approval.



Earlier on the day, a cabinet meeting had decided to bring two-thirds budget of Rs 300.064 billion for fiscal year 2012/13. In last July, the government had introduced one-third budget of Rs 161.2b for the running fiscal year.
