Prez move constitutional: NC, UML

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: The opposition parties—Nepali Congress and CPN UML—have termed President Ram Baran Yadav’s seven-day deadline for a new consensus government as an constitutional and a positive move.



A meeting of the parties at UML party office, Balkhu on Saturday has concluded that the president have to set the deadline as a consensus among the parties was not possible despite his repeated attempts. [break]



The parties believe the president’s move will help to forge consensus and pick a new consensus prime minister within the given time frame, a joint statement issued after the meeting reads.



The opposition parties have also urged UCPN (Maoist), Madhesi Morcha and other parties to take initiatives to forge consensus.
