President's step unconstitutional: UCPN (M)

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: The UCPN (Maoist) has termed the President´s call to form a national consensus government within a week as unconstitutional step.



A meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) office bearers held at the residence of party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday concluded that President´s call to recommend an appropriate proposal by November 29 for the selection of the Prime Minister based on political consensus was unconstitutional.[break]



The meeting also concluded that the President was trying to be an authoritarian by fixing deadline for the parties for government formation by going against the constitutional right during the time of nonexistence of legislature-parliament.



The President´s step has diluted the parties´ efforts for consensus, the ruling party concluded.



After the meeting, UCPN (Maoist) leader Amik Sherchan said that the President´s step was not constitutional and his party was looking the step with cautiously.
