“You may not have got the proper facilities and training but you brought home 13 medals for us. You have made the nation proud,” said the president, adding, “Deepak Bista has won the fourth consecutive gold in the international tournament. Debu Thapa won the bronze despite her injury. These are great achievements.”
President Yadav said that the sports fraternity represents the country´s youth and is the future of the nation. “Sports teach us team spirit and discipline. You players, who carry the national flag, could give right direction to the country,” said Yadav.

Misunderstanding between ministry and NSC
Even as the president was felicitating the medalists, misunderstandings surfaced between the Youth and Sports Ministry and the National Sports Council officials.
NSC officials expressed their dissatisfaction when Sushil Jung Bahadur Rana, the ministry secretary, said that the function was organized at the behest of the ministry.
“The ministry has blocked incentive proposal for the medalists, but it has been trying to receive undue credit,” said NSC Vice-president Pitambar Timalsina. “High officials in the ministry are attempting to make NSC leadership a failure, said Timalsina.
Rajkarnikar felicitated
Team manager Sunil Rajkarnikar was also felicitated on the occasion.
“We have formed a committee to investigate into the incident and we are taking them in front of the president to felicitate them. This is ridiculous,” said member of the probe committee Min Krishna Maharjan.
The NSC is undertaking an investigation into the quarrel between kabaddi coaches and team manager Sunil Rajkarnikar in Dhaka.
