KATHMANDU, Jan 10: With political parties being unable to deliver by the end of the deadline already extended eight times, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Thursday gave five more days (till Monday) for forging consensus on new prime minister.
Earlier in the afternoon, leaders of the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front had reached the president’s office in Shital Niwas and had asked for more time, saying their bid for consensus is ongoing. [break]
The president has also called a meeting of all political parties represented in the erstwhile Constituent Assembly, for Friday at 8 am to explore ways to end the ingrained political impasse.
