Police seize marijuana from ambulance

HETAUDA, July 16: Police impounded an ambulance on its way to Birgunj from Manahari of Makawanpur district. The vehicle was carrying marijuana.



Police seized around 150 kilograms of marijuana from Churiyamai, on the border between Bara and Makawanpur districts, last night.



Police held the vehicle and its driver following a tip-off that it was supplying marijuana from Manahari to Birgunj though it was registered in the name of Grace Hospital, Chuchhepati, Kathmandu, the District Police Office, Makawanpur, said at a press conference here today.



Ambulance driver, Ram Chandra Bhandari of Sindhupalchowk district, temporarily living in Kapan, Kathmandu, has been kept in police custody for investigation, said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shyam Kumar Mahato.



The vehicle is learnt to have arrived in Manahari through Narayangadh of Chitwan district

Police acquired information about the marijuana trader from driver Bhandari and other information in connection to it, police stated.
