BAJURA, June 10: The Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal and Nepal Police will establish temporary border outposts (BOPs) in the Ranisaina area of Himali Rural Municipality to ensure the security of the area and the safety of local residents.

A joint temporary BOP and police post will be set up in the area following the May 17 incident in which locals from Humla detained Ward Member Pemagara Gurung and others, holding them hostage for three days. The decision also comes in the wake of reports on May 19 that residents of Kharpunath Rural Municipality in Humla had assaulted people from Ranisaina Lampata.

Chief District Officer (CDO) of Bajura, Dorendra Niraula, said a BOP will be established at Lampata in Ranisaina, while a temporary police post will also be set up, in accordance with a secretary-level decision made by the Ministry of Home Affairs a week ago.

Referring to the May 17 incident in Ranisaina, CDO Niraula said that, based on a decision taken at a meeting led by the Home Secretary, a temporary police post would be stationed in the area to protect local residents and maintain security.

According to Niraula, a 21-member team from the Armed Police Force and a seven-member team from Nepal Police have already been deployed to Lampata in Himali Rural Municipality.
