The Pokhara chapter of Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN) has been organizing the event for the past 14 years to promote Pokhara as a New Year destination.[break]
The event, which kicked off on Friday, featured 150 stalls and restaurants. The three-kilometer stretch of lakeside, from Fishtail Gate to Dihikopatan, was decorated for the event. Participating restaurants offered more than 100 kinds of food and beverage items. The other stalls showcased products like arts, handicrafts and garments, among others.
“The event was a huge success; we became successful in attracting thousands of domestic and international tourists,” said Gopi Bhattarai, president of REBAN, Pokhara. “The event drew more than 150,000 visitors on New Year´s Eve.”
According to the organizers, cultural programs, tourist race and boat racing remained the major attractions of the four-day event.
