Krishna Mohan Shrestha, coordinator of the committee, said they were forced to take such a drastic measure as the government has been not paying attention to their demand. [break]
The agitating locals have also called a general shutdown in Pokhara during those two days. No public and private vehicles, except those belonging to the press, diplomatic missions, ambulances and other emergency service providers, will be allowed to ply on the road, Shrestha said.
Shrestha, however, informed that the committee is open to dialogue with the government. As part of their agitation, the locals have also planned a mock construction of an international airport in Pokhara on Wednesday.
Earlier, the locals had also shut the Pokhara airport on 23 August as part of their protest program against the government. The committee members who have been sitting on a relay hunger strike for the past seven days have warned of stiff agitation should the government fail to address their demand.
