Poacher kills boy in Charali forest

BIRATNAGAR, May 14: A boy was shot dead by a poacher in Charali forest in Jhapa on Friday. Kamal BK of Duwagadi-1 killed Mausam Rajbanshi, 12, of the same place shooting him under the armpit.



Inspector at the Area Police Office, Kakarbhitta, Devi Prasad Fago said the eighth grader at the local Balsubodhni Secondary School was killed after a group of four-five persons that had entered the forest with guns opened fire. [break]



BK is absconding and locals are angry at the administration for allowing poachers carrying guns into the forest despite the proximity of the place to a Nepal Army barrack.


One dies in fire


TANAHUN: A man has died in a fire in Lamjung Friday night. Ramji Nepali, 30, was sleeping when fire broke out in his house and engulfed him, while his wife and four children managed to survive. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sandip Bhandari said the cause of fire is yet to be known.
