PM appoints six ministers and deputy PM

KATHMANDU, May 16: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Wednesday inducted one more deputy prime minister and six ministers from the CPN-UML and fringe parties to his cabinet, in an attempt to make it a consensus government.



Bhattarai administered the oath of office and secrecy to CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel as the fourth deputy prime minister in his cabinet in presence of President Ram Baran Yadav in the President´s Office. [break]



Likewise, the prime minister also appointed Radha Gyawali (CPN-UML), Chitra Dev Joshi (CPN-United), Parshu Ram Khapung (Rastriya Prajatantra Party), Anil Jha (Federal Sadbhawana), Keshav Man Shakya (Nepa Party), Ek Nath Dhakal (Nepal Family Party) as ministers.







Despite the second expansion to his 20-member cabinet, the prime minister is yet to give portfolios to his 15 cabinet members, including Deputy Prime Ministers Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Krishna Sitaula.



With the appointment of ministers from the CPN-UML, the Bhattarai government has the participation of all the three major political parties -- UCPN (Maoist), NC and CPN-UML-- and the United Democratic Madhesi Front.
