KATHMANDU, March 9: Nepali Congress Leader Ram Chandra Paudel on Wednesday demanded that the government constitute State Restructuring Commission (SRC) at the earliest.

He stated that the proposed federalism would be in jeopardy if the report prepared by the CA´s State Restructuring Committee is endorsed. [break]

Speaking at a special hour in parliament, Paudel said the NC would play a constructive role for the writing of the new constitution and completing the peace process.

Paudel was the view that the peace process must be completed by mid-April. Paudel took strong exception to Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s recent remarks against the Nepali Congress. “The Maoists are yet to return properties seized in the past,” Paudel said. “They are still capturing public properties.”

Paudel also objected to the seven point pact reached between the Maoist and the CPN-UML.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML lawmaker Rabindra Adhikary has urged the NC to be responsible toward writing the new constitution.

“Criticizing each other is not a solution. Let´s have a crucial meeting and finalize the contentious issues, including the issue of integration of the Maoist combatants,” Adhikary added.
