Parliament approves finance bill

KATHMANDU, Feb. 15: The Legislature-Parliament meeting Tuesday approved the Finance Bill (budget) for the fiscal year 2010-2011.



Prior to this, the Replacement Bill 2011 was tabled at the meeting for approval so as to give continuity to the budget brought by the previous government led by Madhav Kumar Nepal in December 2010 through ordinance. [break]



The approval of the bill has allowed the government to mobilize internal debt and spend it. The bill brought through ordinance was into effect till Tuesday.



The Appropriation Bill 2067 that was tabled at the meeting was approved by the majority while Bill to Raise National Debt and Loan and Guarantee (18th amendment) Bill were passed unanimously.



Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari presented the Replacement Bill in the meeting seeking its endorsement.



The next meeting of the Parliament is scheduled to take place at 3:00 pm on February 20, Sunday.
