Panel suggests amendment to integration plan

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: A four-member taskforce submitted its recommendations to amend the plan of action on integration of the Maoist combatants during the meeting of the Special Committee on Supervision, Rehabilitation and Integration of the Maoist army on Monday.



According to the committee spokesperson and Chief Secretary Madhav Ghimire, the committee is meeting on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the plan that aims to complete the management of the Maoist combatants by April 30.



Peace Minister Rakam Chemjong said the taskforce comprising minister Dr Minendra Rijal, Maoist leader Barsha Man Pun, CPN-UML leader Ishwar Pokharel and MPRF (D) leader Jitendra Dev has recommended amending some points in the plan floated by the prime minister last Tuesday.



"We will discuss the recommendations on Tuesday," said Chemjong.



Meanwhile, Deputy Commander of the Maoist army Chandra Prakash Khanal on Tuesday said the plan was unacceptable to his party.
