The winners Himalayan Sherpa bagged a purse of Rs 100,000 while the runners up APF received Rs 50,000 along with trophies, medals and certificates.

This is the second title of the Himalayan Sherpa after they were promoted to the first division. Earlier, they had won the Knockout Football Tournament held in the capital in October. They also became the second team after Three Star Club to lift two titles in the ongoing season.

An own goal turned out to be the decider after both the sides squandered some scoring chances in the competitive match.

Arjun Subba of the departmental team was adjudged the-man-of-the-match while Ugandan Allan Oryek of the Himalayan Sherpa took home two individual titles for his best performance. Oryek who had scored four goals won the awards for the highest scorer and best player of the tournament.

Himalayan Sherpa coach Nirmal Lama said that his team achieved its target.

*UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal distributed the prizes to the winners and runners up teams. All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) President Ganesh Thapa was also present on the occasion.

Dahal also felicitated ANFA President Thapa for being elected vice president of Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Altogether 15 teams, including seven top ones, participated in the tournament which began on January 30.
