One killed, another injured after bus hit pedestrians

BANEPA, July 14: A man was killed on the spot and another severely injured when a passenger bus hit them at Banepa on Saturday morning.



The deceased and the injured have been identified as Degraj Bhattarai of Jhapa and Navaraj Timalsina respectively.[break]



Timalsina is undergoing treatment at Bansbari-based Neuro Hospital in the capital.



The duo worked as resource person at the District Education Office.



The bus (Na 2 Kha 5892) crushed the duo as they were on morning walk.

Meanwhile, accusing the reckless driving, irate locals have set the bus on fire.



Police have fired eight rounds of tear gas shells to contain the situation, as the locals started to vandalize a municipality mini-truck used to douse the fire.



Following the incident, vehicular movement at the Araniko Highway has been completely blocked.
